i went to see the empire strikes back at the local art-house theatre (for real) with my little cousins tonight. why? because it's my favorite film of the franchise, i wanted to be a part of their experience, and share their joy. i remember the day i went to see empire in the theatres. and i know they will too.

before the film started, the theatre manager asked who had seen the movie in its first release. i proudly waved my arms along with the majority of the crowd. the sold-out show was packed with excited families (including cuba gooding jr.'s). somehow, mica managed to fall asleep. however, ari did this crazy happy dance for nearly the whole movie. his joy was infectious.

ari was ecstatic after the screening.

we should all make more lightsaber sounds. share his memory. (8 megs, sorry i don't know how to compress avi files!)

i'm obsessed with the vanity plates in southern california. as if your car wasn't already, supposedly, an extension of yourself. vanity plates are the IM handles of the automobile world. seven letters or icons represent you. are you fun, hot, or clever? got the whale tail license plate? i know i already like you. wink.

I have few friends who have stayed on one track their whole career. And Dennis does it with crazy humor and chutzpah. With endless knowledge about the formidable world of art, Dennis makes museum visits painless, fun, and educational. I caught up with him about the opening of his new contemporary art gallery.

Boston University, 1992. We met as a result of my friendships with your suitemates in your dorm room. I don't remember the exact first time we met but I have visions of you in coxswain gear.

last week, claire and i fantasized about adding another day to the week so that we could have more time to work on our money and pleasure projects. it's nice to know that i am not the only one drowning in unanswered emails, unread magazines, books, and blogs, unwatched TV programs, and three month old unwatched netflix movies. this NPR story on digital guilt accurately describes exactly what i've been experiencing lately.

people have woken from winter. everyone i've talked to says they're busier than ever. i want to know, how are you managing your time? how do you do it? i'm pretty good at multi-tasking, never miss a deadline (within my control), and book my calendar weeks out...yet, i find myself without two hours to simply watch a movie. i know it's also a priority thing too, but why are we so busy when technology has provided us so many short cuts for saving time?

Jim Hodges' new 9-ton sculpture, Look and See, is a camouflage curtain that transports visitors to a refractive environment fusing their own fluid image with the opposing landscapes of skyscrapers and nature in Lower Manhattan. Hodges transforms materials explored in previous works-shattered mirrors, cutouts, and camouflage-and combines them with stainless steel for the first time, pushing his practice into new terrain.

Jim Hodges is the fifth artist to participate in Creative Time's Art on the Plaza, following internationally acclaimed artists Jim Campbell, Gary Hume, Zhang Huan, and Shirazeh Houshiary & Pip Horne. Art on the Plaza is an ongoing public sculpture series presented at The Ritz-Carlton in Battery Park in cooperation with Millennium Partners and The Battery Park City Authority.

i've been using and enjoying my flickr account more so recently. in my spare time i like to scan tags referenced "kittens" or "cats". i hit the jackpot when i found swedish cat fanatic, anders viklund's account.

i've never seen persian kittens before. and having discovered anders' site, i was shocked and amazed by the fuzzy little beings. i've impulsively scanned through his photos at least thirty times already -- they're just too ridiculous. his cats are insanely odd looking and unquestionably cute.

our cats, atari and godzuki recently posed for friends and artists kozy and dan (kozyndan). you can see the finished piece at their upcoming show at the sixspace gallery in may (mark your calendars now, there's a lot going on that weekend). we're very proud of all parties involved.

if you're slow to hop on the kozyndan train, they've got a pretty special sense of humor that spills into their art work. they're pretty prolific too balancing personal with commercial work -- i'm sure you've seen their illustrations in various publications and on record album covers.
